Why do I need TradeSafe verification?
Verification unlocks payouts. Without it, your listings show as "Seller verification pending" and buyers can't complete checkout.
To receive payment for items you sell, CrankMart needs to verify your identity and banking details. This is handled by TradeSafe, the regulated escrow provider behind our marketplace flow.
What verification covers
TradeSafe needs:
- Your full name and South African ID number (or passport)
- Your mobile number — TradeSafe SMSes you when payouts land
- Your bank account — bank, account number, type (Cheque / Savings / Transmission)
- Business details if you're trading as a registered business (CC, Pty Ltd, etc.) — optional
The whole form takes about 2 minutes.
What happens if I don't verify
You can still create listings. But:
- A "Seller verification pending" notice appears next to the Buy Now button
- Buyers cannot complete checkout on your listings
- You won't get the green Verified badge that builds buyer trust
- Your listings will likely sell slower
You'll see a banner on your own listings reminding you to verify, with a one-click link to the form.
Privacy — where does my data go?
- Your ID number and banking details go directly from the form to TradeSafe via an encrypted POST. CrankMart never stores your ID number or full account number — we keep only the opaque token ID that TradeSafe returns.
- TradeSafe is regulated under South African financial-services law (FAIS, FICA) and is required to KYC its users.

How long does verification take?
Submission is instant — TradeSafe creates the token in real-time as you submit the form. If sandbox/test details fail, you'll see the rejection reason immediately and can re-submit.
For live production accounts, TradeSafe may run AVS (Account Verification Service) against your bank in the background. If your banking details are wrong, you'll be notified by SMS within 1-2 business days.
What if I make a mistake?
Once a token is created, banking details cannot be edited via this form (per TradeSafe's policy). To change your banking details, contact CrankMart support and we'll initiate re-verification.
